Edwin Herbert Land (May 7, 1909-March 1, 1991)

Edwin Herbert Land (May 7, 1909-March 1, 1991) was the U.S. inventor and manufacturer of the Polaroid Land Camera, which developed pictures inside the camera through a process of light polarization.

He was an advisor to the U.S. guided missile system during World War II; introduced the first black and white instant Polaroid Camera, 1947; and introduced the first color instant Polaroid camera, 1963.

In 1977, when presented with a statement that the only thing that mattered was the bottom line on a balance sheet, Edwin Herbert Land replied:

<The bottom line is in heaven.> 1909EL001
