William Ashley "Billy" Sunday (November 19, 1862-November 6, 1935) was an American evangelist, noted for flamboyance and dramatic style. He was a famed professional baseball player, 1883-91, before his conversion. After working with the Y.M.C.A. from 1891-95, he became a nationally renowned evangelist, 1896-1935. Billy Sunday declared:
