Georgia Provincial Congress (July 5, 1775) in its request for a Day of Fasting and Prayer, stated:
<A motion was made and seconded, that this Congress apply to his Excellency the Governour, by message, requesting him to appoint a day of Fasting and Prayer throughout this Province, on account of the disputes subsisting between America and the Parent State; which being unanimously passed in the affirmative.> 1775GP002
